Yesterday, I posted a new plugin for sale on my forum at Affiliate Developer, this plugin is a cart that can be plugged into any Amazon script. Mostly written for my own scripts, but easy to adapt to the other scripts that are out there.
I’ve put it on a few of my sites, so let’s see what type of returns I get from using it.
Other than that, things have been pretty quiet / busy. I got my new backup server up and running this week from home. Gonna clear out a storage room in the basement and wheel it in there shortly so it’s out of the way.
The server isn’t very powerful or anything, and it’s only got a 20 gig hard drive, but it was built to be a backup server and only a backup server. Data gets backed up to it and that is it.
On another note, slowly getting my christmas shopping done. I’ll be sending the presents I bought for my parents and my brother back to Newfoundland this weekend and then I have to finish shopping for Patsy and her family.
I love christmas, every year it has always been one of my favourite holidays.
Giving and receiving gifts each year is always fun.
There’s just always other factors about christmas that always tend to be stressfull.
The first thing is that my family are on the other side of the country and I miss not being able to spend christmas with them. I spend it with my girlfriend and her family so it’s not like I spend christmas alone, but it’s not the same thing.
Growing up, christmas was the one time that our family was all together. It was one of the few times that my grandparents came to visit, and we saw relatives who we had little to do with during the rest of the year.
The other thing is the same old thingâ¦. money. You end up choosing between paying a bill or buying a gift for someone.
The third thing is the thing that has always stressed me out and probably always will. It’s figuring out what gifts to get people. I don’t want to give someone a gift that they’ll exchange the next day for a better gift, or worse, regift it the next year.
People will say that these aren’t things to be stressfull about, but people who say that have never spent every christmas away from family, or have never dealt with the other two factors.
The other stress factor right now is snow. I hate it when it snows out, it makes the roads slippery and lots of drivers become idiots.
I’ve been having to get new tires on my car for a while, but haven’t been able to because of money, and the snow falling makes needing tires that much more important and also adds more stress to not having them.
I guess what I’m saying is Merry Christmas and Bah Humbug at the same time and that makes no sense.
Shepherd’s pie is one of the all-time favorite ‘comfort’ foods. On a cold winter’s night, nothing is as welcome as a big plate of well made shepherd’s pie, with some crusty bread.
Preperation Time: 10 min
Total Time: 90 min
Makes: 4 servings.
You need:
500g Leaned Beef Mince
1 white Onion - diced
1 red Onion - diced
1 Carrot - diced
Portobello Mushroom, 1/2 large diced
Worcester Sauce - few dashes are needed
Ketchup - 1 table spoon
Tabasco sauce - 1 tablespoon
Stock Cube x 2 Beef in 1 pint hot water
Salt & Pepper
Mash Potato for topping
Preperation
Fry off the onions in a little sunflower oil until transparent - probably around 8 minutes on a medium gas flame. Once cooked put to one side.
Fry the mince
Once all the mince is cooked put into a shallow saucepan, add the diced mushrooms & carrots plus all the juices from the pan you used for the frying.
Add 2 beef stock cubes. Cover and leave to simmer.
Check about 45 minutes into the cooking, and if it has cooked, take it off the heat. Add a little flour fixed in water to the mixture to make sure the shepherd’s pie has a thick sauce.
Put into your ovenproof dish. Add mash potatoes to top and use a fork to make swirly patterns.
Place dish in a preheated oven to 220 degrees for 45 minutes - check the pie is piping hot before serving.
Today, we launched our newest site Word Spin. Word Spin is a unique site, you can use it to help find words that can be used for creating domain names or just finding defitions and their uses. You type in a word to search and it searches the English Dictionary and returns a list of words that contain your chosen word inside them. Give it a try :)
DevShed.com has just published another article written by me. It’s called “Building a Relational Content Management System In PHP / MySQL” A quick overview of the article as if the name doesn’t say it all is this: “This article will show you how to build a simple relational content management system. What is a relational CMS you ask? Well, a relational CMS lets you create articles that have child articles. This works similiar to other CMSes which have categories and then articles; we will just combine them together to be more relational.”
Christmas was fine. Spent some time with friends and family. Hung out, watched movies, opened presents.
Got a Sirius Satelite Radio for the car for christmas. That thing is pretty cool. Over 100 channels. Octane is the best.
So, it’s now 7:20. I overlsept today after having 5 days off from work and was in a rush to get to the office. Didn’t even have time to make lunch before I left.
On another note, I’m back to work on my new cooking site. I abandoned the design I was playing with to go with a design based on the freekrai.net template which is fine since I want to keep everything more uniform and I like that design anyway. Everything’s nearly done on that site, just have to add some more recipes and finish working out the colors I want to use.
